1.5 Million Kroner Donated for Charitable Purposes in July

At a recent board meeting the foundation donated 1.5 mill. DKK for 61 different purposes in Denmark and abroad.

The donations were distributed among the donation categories as follows:

577,500 DKK

- Research and education

262,500 DKK

- Hospitals, institutions and health

304,000 DKK

- Leisure and sport
367.479 DKK - Art and culture

10.000 DKK

- Abroad
 
The next board meeting will be held on 1 October. Applications to be considered at this meeting must be received by the foundation no later than the end of week 37.

2 million Kroner Donated to Charitable Purposes in May

At its meeting in May the Board of Directors donated 2 mill. DKK to charitable purposes, both national and local. Among the local donations were several to projects in the vicinity of Danfoss companies in Germany.

Donations were given to projects within the German minority in Southern Jutland, Denmark as well as the Danish minority in Southern Schleswig, Germany. In Denmark, The German Private School in Aabenraa received a donation to be used for the school's playground. In Germany, the School Association of Southern Schleswig received funds for the production of a musical, "Peter Pan", and The Little Theatre in Flensburg for the purchase of new equipment for its auditorium.

Major donations, amounting to a total of 1.3 mill. DKK, went to projects within research and education as well as art and culture.

The next board meeting will be held on 2 July. Applications to be considered at this meeting must be received by the foundation no later than the end of week 25.

Support for Victims of the Bush Fires in Australia 

Danfoss employees in Australia and New Zealand have collected for the victims of the devastating bush fires which recently raged in the area around Melbourne. The collection amounted to nearly 15,000 AUD.

The Fabrikant Mads Clausen Foundation always supports such collections among employees in connection with natural disasters by doubling the amount collected. Thus, a total donation of 30,000 AUD could be sent to The Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal, which supports individuals and local communities affected by the fires.

1.6 Million Kroner Donated at the First Meeting in 2009

The foundation has held its first board meeting in 2009. The board donated a total of 1.6 mill. DKK to various charitable purposes.

Among the recipients were a number of patient associations and associations for the disabled, sports and leisure clubs, both local and national. Examples are:

- ASF Danish People's Aid, North Als: visiting service, camp for the disabled
- Guderup Laenken: activities for abstinent alcoholics and their relatives
- North Als Disabled Sports: bocce balls
- Special Olympic Games for special schools in Southern Denmark
- YMCA Scouts Silkeborg: bunk beds for new scout hut
- Deutscher Ruderverein Gravenstein: sea kayak
- Roedekro Sports Association: new wooden floor at Roedekro Sports Centre
- Sonderborg Triathlon Club: mountain bike
- ALS Association: support for patients suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
- Danish Deaf Sports Association: participation in Deaflympics 2009
- FestIvand: event with swimming activities for the mentally handicapped
- Muscular Dystrophy Foundation: documentary on the use of assistive technology for ALS
  patients
- Spinal Cord Hernia Association of 1988: summer camp for children and young people
- Sclerosis Association: holidays for people suffering from sclerosis and their families
- Navy's Officer Candidate School: Nordic cadets competition

Within "art and culture" support was given to a number of local projects. Among these were an annual jazz festival in Silkeborg, a book about the paintings in the church at Graasten Castle, and the making of a tree sculpture for the new sculpture park Augustiana at the castle of Augustenborg.

Two major donations of 100,000 DKK and above were made. One was made to Aarhus University Hospital for research in pneumonia. The other was made to Skolevisioner I/S for an educational project within natural sciences for pupils in the 5th and 6th grades. The project will provide the pupils with the opportunity to be creative and innovative, to use their professional skills and to collaborate.

The next board meeting will be held on 6 May. Applications to be considered at this meeting must be received by the foundation no later than the end of week 16.

1.4 Million Kroner donated at the last meeting in 2008


The foundation has made its last donations in 2008 to various charitable projects in and outside Denmark. Among the recipients were several institutions and organisations for children and young people - e.g. day care centres, schools, SOS Children's Villages and a self-help group for children and young people whose parents have died or are incurably ill.

At this time of the year, a number of churches in and around Nordborg and Sonderborg receive donations to support their Christmas aid for socially disadvantaged families. This year the foundation donated 76,000 DKK to this fine purpose. Furthermore, the foundation donated 10,000 DKK to "A Heart for All" - a newly established association, the purpose of which is to provide Christmas aid for socially disadvantaged families in the Aabenraa area.

Within "leasure and sports" donations were given to a number of local clubs, among these riding, rowing, badminton, boxing and gymnastics clubs.

Local museums, choirs and orchestras received funds to buy art, instruments and songbooks. A national project instigated by the Prisoners' Choir at Vridsloeselille State Prison to produce a dvd to be distributed among children of prisoners was also supported. 

Two major donations were given to medical research projects within hepatitis and tuberculosis.

Total donations in 2008 amounted to almost 10 mill. DKK - distributed among more than 350 recipients.

The first board meeting in 2009 will be held at the end of February. Applications to be considered at this meeting must be received by the foundation no later than the end of week 6.

2.7 Million Kroner Donated to Charitable Purposes in October
 
The Board of Directors of the Fabrikant Mads Clausen Foundation donated 2.7 mill. DKK for various charitable purposes in October. 2.2 mill. DKK hereof was designated for purposes in the vicinity of Danfoss.

The largest donation - 1 mill. DKK - was given to the Rheumatism Centre in Graasten. The centre is owned and operated by the Danish Rheumatism Association, which supports research in rheumatism and works to improve treatment and quality of life for the 700,000 people in Denmark who suffer from joint, back or muscular diseases. The centre treats patients from all over Denmark.The foundation's donation is for the purchase of digital and state-of-the-art x-ray equipment. The patients will benefit greatly from the new equipment, as both examination and the following treatment will be much more efficient.

1.2 mill. DKK was given to other projects near Danfoss companies. Within "research and education" major donations were made to a breast cancer research project at Vejle Hospital and to a new nature school which is being established in connection with Gråsten Agricultural School. 

In the category  "hospitals, institutions and health" funds were donated for the equipment of silent wards for the terminally ill at Sønderborg Hospital and for new tv sets for the patients' living rooms at the Regional Hospital in Silkeborg. Rise-Rødekro Voluntary Fire Brigade received a donation for resuscitation equipment. Furthermore, a number of local organisations for the elderly and disabled received funds for the support of various activities and equipment.

Within "leisure and sports" the foundation decided to support the building of a hangar for a new motor glider at Silkeborg Flying Club, and at Glamsbjerg on the island of Funen the civic association received funds to establish a multi sports field at the local school.

Within "art and culture" a number of local historic societies were supported, among these "E Kleinbahn", an association working to reestablish part of the former county railroad on the island of Als. Likewise, a number of music and art projects received a donation, among them was Viby High School which received an amount for the artistic decoration of the school.

Outside Denmark a charity Christmas bazaar in Lithuania received a major donation, which will be passed on to social and humanitarian projects in the Vilnius area.

The foundation has donated a total of 7.75 mill. DKK so far this year. 300 applicants received donations ranging from 1,000 DKK to 1 mill. DKK.

The last board meeting in 2008 will be held on 9 December. Applications to be considered at this meeting must be received by the foundation no later than the end of week 47.
